Galerie Simpson is very proud to launch our latest publishing venture with renowned artist Georgie Hopton. Working within the realms of the handmade and highly skilled digital scanning, has resulted in these very special Archival Glicée Prints. The resulting surface seems to fluctuate between both two and three dimensions. Textures within the original elements of the collage at once recede and merge, whilst simultameously thrusting themselves forward to assert their individuality. There is an irresistable push and pull between object and surface, the photographic and rendered surface. In these images, we journey back through the wallpapered rooms of our childhood, wading through discarded sweet wrappers, ripped off paper from birthday presents and the spilled contents of the mend and make box on our way. Georgie Hopton's work is a quiet virtuosic hall of mirrors. Her sad-happy flowers are mini monuments to vulnerability, the melancholy of decay twinned with droll hope. - Katie Puckrik
